Meet the

Founder

Hi! I’m Melissa. I’ve been in the Pilates industry for over 22 years. I started as a receptionist at a Pilates studio in Toronto in 2002, then became an office manager, then Pilates instructor, and eventually a lead educator for STOTT PILATES. I have traveled around the world teaching Pilates and certifying instructors and have had a blast! To date, I have taught on 4 continents and certified hundreds of instructors!

During this time, I also received my MFA in Contemporary Performance from a Buddhist University (yup, they exist), Naropa U in Boulder, Colorado. There, I was immersed in meditation, contemplative study and body mind centering. I had the opportunity to train with body masters in dance, performance, and experiential anatomy. This has had a vital role in who I am today and how I uniquely teach Pilates.

My strength as an instructor is my in-depth knowledge of anatomy. I love it so much that I even created a course for instructors to help them love anatomy as much as I do.

My passion as an instructor is teaching all ages. I have been teaching my signature m.a.c. Pilates for Kids programs since 2001! During that time, I taught in schools, camps, studios, and all over the world. In 2020, I wrote my first book on how to teach Pilates for Kids (you can get yours here) and soon after this became a world-renowned training program! I have created a full day course and over 20 workshops, including pilates for the teen athlete, pilates for kids post rehab, pilates for kids with scoliosis and other spinal concerns, pilates for kids with sensory issues and more!

I love creating programs that inspire kids to move and be creative with their bodies. I love empowering them to be strong and confident. On the flip side, I enjoy working with seniors to find confidence in each step and to find a renewed sense of joy while moving. I believe all humans should enjoy movement and I want to help guide them to find that inner and outer strength.
